Vets Thanksgiving Dinner

Christian County Elks of Ozark had the honor of hosting Thanksgiving Veterans Appreciation Dinner in November at the Elks Lodge. Forty-three veterans and guests plus two service dogs attended our dinner coming from locations throughout our community. No Thanksgiving dinner was provided last year due to COVID-19, so this year many of the veterans were truly looking forward getting back to the Elks Lodge. After dinner, an informative program on the Honor Flight of the Ozarks was presented by fellow Elk Chris McQuay and Honor Flight President and Founder Chris Stark. The Honor Flight funds and takes Veterans to Washington, DC where they tour all the War Memorials. Following the presentation, welcome bags were presented to the Veterans by Serenity (Chris McQuay’s granddaughter). Serenity has raised $55,000 thru her efforts at fundraisers for the Honor Flight of the Ozarks. In closing, the CC Elks presented a $500 check to the Honor Flight from the Veteran fund. A big thanks to Elks Charley Falzone for heading up the annual Elks Veteran Benefit Golf Tournament in September to help fund our Veterans projects. The mission of the Elks is to support children and veterans.
