Christian County Elks 2777 were honored last Friday night as Missouri State President Don Cook and First Lady Susan visited the Lodge for a wonderful dinner followed by a hilarious Roasting of Past State President / CC Elks member Tom Shelton. Over 50 members and guests welcomed Don and Susan with a meet-and-greet cocktails, their team then toured the Lodge, photos were taken then everyone enjoyed a pork steak dinner, red potatoes and green beans…all prepared by DDGER Jeff Holt, Kevin Wolfe and Ernie Fritchman. Don spoke of his early years as an Elk and that the Pledge of Allegiance sparked his enthusiasm to attend every Lodge meeting from that point on. The evening progressed with gifts for Susan and Don, desserts by the CC Elks Auxiliary and the Roasting for PSP Tom Shelton. Roasters were Exalted Ruler Scotty Butler, Leading Knight Charlie Falzone, PDDGER Kevin Wolfe, Past State President Bob Todd and State President Don Cook. PSP Tom Shelton stated, “well this was great but 90% of the comments were funny, but not true. Scotty’s comments about the old days at the lake were true and thank goodness we all survived.” It was a great night of comradely and Elkdom at its best.
