This past Saturday the Christian County Elks #2777 participated in the annual Toys for Tots Golf Tournament at Deer Lake Golf Course in Springfield. Participating in the tournament and finishing 5th out of 14 for the CC Elks was Exalted Ruler, Scotty Butler, Leading Knight, Charlie Falzone, Veterans Chairman, Denny Peterson and recent new member, Howard McCoy. The CC Elks did bring home some gold as Denny Peterson won the Longest Drive Competition. It was a fun-filled 9-holes of golf as the Elks supported a wonderful organization.
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. In 2018 in Springfield MO, 7,549 children received 23,232 toys thru donations made to Toys for Tots.
