The Wall that Heals Fundraiser

On Friday evening, January 13, 2023 approximately 20 Christian County Elks members gathered for dinner and dessert auction. Proceeds from the dessert auction totaling $2,350.00 were presented to 9 year-old Miss Serenity Honors for her latest project: The Wall That Heals. This is the official National Traveling Vietnam Wall Memorial, and it is coming to Springfield the week of June 8 through June11, 2023.
There are about 5 versions of the Traveling Vietnam Wall, but this is the largest and oldest of the Walls and will reside on West Republic Road in a field located near Wesleyan United Methodist Church. More details will be announced closer to the event date.
“The Wall That Heals exhibit features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point.” – from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund website.
This is the 38th season of The Wall That Heals Tour, and Serenity was one of 32 charities awarded a visit in 2023. Her organization is responsible for raising between $20,000 -$30,000 to fund the Wall’s visit to Springfield. There is never a charge to visit the Wall, so everyone come out and enjoy this wonderful jewel. Please help if you can; donate at the Christian County Elks Lodge; hold your own dessert auction or other fundraising event; donate on Serenity’s website.
