Kite Day for Youth Week

As part of Elks National Youth Week and Community Appreciation, Christian County Elks #2777 of Ozark MO hosted Kite Day. Free kites, ice cream (Hart of the Ozarks Ice Cream Delights), hamburgers, hot dogs (donated by Walmart Ozark) and more for everyone who attended. It was a sure delight to see the kids running across our grass area with kites coloring the blue sky. Christian County Elks was honored to pass out checks to our adopted groups and community partners through Grants applied for and earned by the Lodge: The Elks presented Officer Bill Whitaker of the Christian County Sheriff’s D.A.R.E. Program with a $500 check as part of a $3,000 Gratitude Grant from the Elks National Foundation. Other recipients of this Gratitude Grant are Ozark J.R.O.T.C. $500 (currently competing in Florida) and CASA of Southwest Missouri $1,500. Least of These Food Pantry, Inc.’s Michele Pierce was on hand to receive two checks, $1,000 from the Gratitude Grant and $2,000 from a Spotlight Grant. Our adopted groups also received money from the Lodge; the Girl Scouts $500, B & G Scouts Troop #201 $500, and Cub Scout Pack 75 $500. In total, CC Elks is donating $7,000 back to the community in honor of Elks National Youth Week. Plus, the Elks Lodge has been notified of being awarded a Freedom Spark Grant of $1,000 which will be used to build handicap ramps for disabled veterans in Christian County by the Ozarks Veterans Coalition
