Elks Distribute Dictionaries to Third Graders

In a heartwarming annual tradition, members of the Christian County Elks brought smiles to the faces of Christian County third graders by distributing free dictionaries to students in local schools. This initiative, part of a nationwide project led by Elks Lodges across the country, aims to promote literacy and provide young learners with a resource to support their education.

The dictionary distribution program has been a staple community service project for the Elks for many years. The organization believes in fostering academic growth and empowering children through education. By providing these tools, the Elks hope to inspire students to expand their vocabulary, improve their reading skills, and develop a lifelong love for learning.

Exalted Ruler, Larry Tuck, and Leading Knight, Janey Tuck, personally visited classrooms throughout Christian County (Chadwick, Sparta, Clever, Highlandville and Billings schools) engaging with students and explaining the benefits of having a dictionary at their fingertips. Over three hundred dictionaries were handed to students this year. Teachers and school administrators have expressed their gratitude for the Elks’ ongoing commitment to education and the development of young minds.

This nationwide effort demonstrates the Elks’ dedication to serving their communities and making a lasting impact on future generations. As students eagerly flip through the pages of their new dictionaries, the Elks continue to prove that small acts of generosity can lead to big opportunities for growth and success.
