Veterans Thanksgiving Lunch

Christian County Elks #2777 Honors Veterans at Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon

Christian County Elks Lodge #2777 proudly hosted its annual Thanksgiving Luncheon for Veterans on Wednesday, November 19, welcoming more than 100 guests for a heartfelt celebration of service and gratitude. Over 70 Veterans enjoyed a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner—turkey, trimmings, and all—prepared entirely by Lodge members who spent the morning cooking and getting everything ready for this special occasion. All food for the event was generously donated to support the Lodge’s ongoing mission to serve those who served.

Veterans traveled from across the region to attend, including groups from the Mt. Vernon Veterans Home, North Park Village in Ozark, Century Pines, and Castlewood Senior Living. Their presence filled the Lodge with stories, camaraderie, and a deep sense of appreciation.

A highlight of the event was the message delivered by Guest Speaker David Snider of Honor Flight of the Ozarks, who spoke about the sacrifices made by America’s Veterans and the powerful experiences shared by those who have taken the Honor Flight journey to Washington, D.C., to visit the national Veterans memorials.

Attendees were also treated to the extraordinary presence of World War II Veteran Gwendolyn Fawcett, who at 101 years old continues to inspire all who meet her. Ms. Fawcett served as a driver in the U.S. Army Air Forces during the war, and her attendance was an honor for everyone present.

Christian County Elks #2777 extends its sincere thanks to every Veteran who attended, to their caregivers and supporters, and to the dedicated Elks volunteers who devoted their time and energy to make this luncheon possible. Their commitment ensured a memorable and meaningful afternoon for the men and women who have given so much for our country.
